表语从句
(1)在从句中作表语的从句叫表语从句。它位于主句中的系动词之后，常用的关联词和主语从句相
同。
例1 Isn’t that ____ they call peace and friendship? A.which B.this C.what D.where

例2 This is what he wants.这就是他想要的东西。
例3 The question is whether we can finish our work by tomorrow morning.
问题是我们明天上午能否完成任务。
(2)用suggestion，advice，order等词表示愿望、建议、命令等情绪时，用虚拟语气，从句中用should(可省略)+动词原形。
例1 My suggestion yesterday was that a metting ____ to discuss the matter.
A.should hold B.must be held C.would be held D.be held

3、宾语从句
(1)宾语从句用陈述句的语序。
例1 I must tell you how ____ a letter from you.

此句为how 引导的宾语从句。How 后面紧跟它所修饰的形容词或副词，然后再接一个陈述句。另外注意短语 be pleased to do sth.。本句的意思是：“我必须告诉你收到你的来信我是多么的高兴。”
例2 Can you tell me ____ about the city that makes people love it so mush?

(2)介词后面的宾语从句。

(3)形式宾语：当宾语为一个从句，且后面有形容词或名词做宾补时，
常用形式宾语，用it指代，将真正宾语放在后面。
例1 Idon’t think it advisable that Tom ____ to the job since he has experience，
A.be assigned B.is assigned C.will be assigned D.has been assigned

例2 We consider ____ the instrument be adjusted each time it is used.

(4)宾语从句的时态：
主语是一般现在时，则从句可为任何时态;主句是过去时，从句只能用过去的某种时态，如一般过去时，过去进行时，过去将来时，过去完成时。但若从句为真理性内容，则用现在时。
例：He said that he had passed the exam.他说他通过了考试。(不能用has passed，现在完成时要改成过去完成时)
The teacher said in class that the Earth goes around the Sun.老师说地球围着太阳转。(从句内容是真理，因此动词不受语气时态影响，仍用一般现在时)
(5)suggest，insist，order，demand等动词后接宾语从句，表示欲望、建议、命令等时，用虚拟语气。
例1 The doctor advised her that she ____ enough rest before going back to work.
A.to get B.get C.gets D.got

(6)在下列情况下不能用if，只用whether。
后跟不定式：He didn’t tell me whether to go or stay.他没有告诉我是走还是留下。
前面有介词：He raised the question of whether we could find the necessary money.她提出我们能否筹集到必要的资金这个问题。
引导主语从句：whether they win or lose is all the same to me.他们胜利也好，失败也好，对我来说都是一样的。
后面直接跟or not：I wonder I’ll catch the bus or not.我不知道我能否赶上末班车。
4、同位语从句
(1)同位语从句的基本用法。常跟在fact，idea，news等名词的后面，通常用连词that引导。
例1 The news quickly spread through the village ____ the war had ended.
A.which B.what C.that D.where

(2)如果同位语从句所修饰的先行词是suggestion，proposal等名词的时候，谓语动词should+原形动词。should可以省略。
例1 My suggestion that we do the experiment again is accepted by them.
我建议在做一次实验，他们接受了。
例2 His proposal that they (should)challenge the other groups to a friendly competition is praised by the teacher.他提议向别的组挑战，来一场友谊竞赛。这个提议受到了老师的表扬。
(3)同位语从句与定语从句的区别：
定语从句的作用是修饰限制先行词;而同位语从句是对其前面名词的解释或说明。
同时，在同位语从句中，that本身没有具体的意义，只是一个引导词，而且不充当任何句子成分;在定语从句中，that既是引导词，又在句子中充当成分。
例1 The news that he will quit his job is true.他要辞职的消息是真的。(本句中的that从句是同位语从句，讲的是news的内容。句中that不能省略)
例2 The news that you told me is true. 你告诉我的消息是真的。(本句中的that从句是定语从句，是对news进行限定，指是你告诉的而非别人。句中that可以省略)
